Before I found Life Coaching, I considered myself very productive, a goal-getter, and over-achiever. Growing up, whatever I put my mind to, I got it done and as a result, I began working as a federal officer for the federal courts at a very young age. While everything I had done in the way of education and goal-setting had gotten me to this high-paying job which allowed me to buy a home, pay off my car, have nice clothes, and eat at extravagant restaurants, it also got me to another place in my life that was not so attractive nor appealing at all. I ended up in the place of, "I hate my job and therefore hate my life!" Obviously not a very good place to be.
When looking back at why my goal-setting only worked up to a point, I noticed it was because I put all my passions aside in hopes that I would revisit them at a later date...you know, after I finished my undergrad work, then my master's, and after I got settled into my career. But of course, after I got established so to speak, I was too focused on the details of my job, my life (bills, relationships, etc.) to really feed the fire of my big dreams and visions.
All my life I was taught to go get a good education, make lots of money, and work my way up the professional ladder. I hung on to every word my parents, teachers, and bosses told me with respect to career, marriage, money, and life. While I was grateful for some of the lessons they shared, I soon realized I had not tapped into my own thoughts on those aforementioned subjects. And, when I tried to listen to my own ideas I soon realized I was too caught up in the opinions of others. It wasn't until I started working with my first Professional Coach that I was given permission to truly be me by listening to myself and MY heart's desires, not the desires that others had for me.
My first session with my Coach consisted of looking into the future 20 years and seeing what I WANTED to see. I visualized how I wanted my life to be, how I wanted to be as a person, where I wanted to live, what I wanted to be doing and who I wanted to be doing those things with. I felt alive, excited, rejuvenated, and connected to myself for the first time in I don't know how many years. Even more thrilling was that I felt determined to take action steps into making this visualization become a reality and aimed to have this dream life sooner than 20 years.
It is now six years after that first Coaching session and so much has changed for the positive in my life: I have since quit that loathsome job, just returned from living in Europe for six months, am getting married to the man of my dreams, and work full-time from home as a Professional Coach, workshop leader, and motivational speaker.
If you find yourself saying you cannot have the life you have always dreamed of, that you must continue to work for a job you just cannot stand, don't have enough money to take that dream vacation or buy that dream house, perhaps Life Coaching may be the very thing you need to get you back in touch with your "true" self and your heart's most passionate desires.
Life Coaching gave me the gift of creating an amazing life and I want to give you that very same gift! So, I challenge you to take a stand for having the most incredible, fabulous, and fantastic life you can possibly have. Stop setting goals that are not alignment with your biggest dreams, passions, and desires, and instead consciously create a life beyond your wildest dreams. And, if you don't know where to begin or how to start, get a Life...Coach!
