The real estate industry has a saying that applies here. It is "Location! Location! Location!" As a life purpose coach I feel the same way. The days of coaching clients in a cold and boring office are over. Atmosphere and tranquility are of necessity and surely not to be discounted.
Like me my clients enjoy the full sensory experience. When I was trained in NLP and life coaching, my mentors in California always made sure to maximize the moment and accommodate us in every way. This eliminated potential distractions and provided a controlled environment assuring the greatest possible focus.
As I have always said, "Where focus goes energy flows." Holding a client's concentration to prevent a wondering mind is often why some life coaches prefer a stark office instead of outdoor surroundings. Certainly more control is afforded a coach indoors. Yet for me I want to open people up and let them blossom like a flower. A mild distraction such as a lovely bird whistling a delightful tune won't ruin my coaching session. On the contrary it further allows us to connect with our Creator and the beauty of nature.
There is sweet serenity and a peaceful calm that sweeps over the soul when outdoors and in touch with nature. I also enjoy meeting alongside lakes and oceans, where bodies of water can remove the feeling of being overwhelmed and rushed that city life can easily bring upon us.
Since many of my clients are from the Winter Park area, Park Avenue is a particular favorite. It certainly can be a lovely place to relax, have a soul searching conversation, take a tranquil walks in the park, and enjoy some superb cuisine.
Mountains and heights also provide spectacular views. I went to high school in Clermont, FL which is known as the gem of the hills - one of the few places in flat Florida with such rolling hills.
Whatever my client's preference is I try to afford some flexibility as to where we meet for our sessions, while at the same time keeping in mind that which I want to accomplish and where appropriate ensuring the ideal surroundings to work with my goals for each unique meeting with the client.
The results and level of joyful response from clients who have met with me outdoors or in unique places have been outstanding. I encourage everybody to find their favorite spots to meet and have defining moments.
